Churches in Podgorica
Churches in Podgorica are split between the Orthodox majority and a smaller Catholic presence, plus the older Ottoman-era mosques in Stara Varos. The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ on the western edge of the centre is the largest, completed in 2013 with a frescoed dome visible from across the Morača. Saint George's Church on Gorica Hill is the oldest, a small fifteenth-century Orthodox foundation built into the hillside near the upper viewpoint.
The Catholic Saint Peter's church serves the smaller Catholic community in the centre, and a network of parish churches across the residential blocks handles weekly Orthodox services and major feast-day processions. Entry is free at all churches; the Cathedral runs an open-door policy outside services and the smaller parish churches typically open for the morning service and close mid-afternoon. Modest dress is expected at all sites and headscarves are available at the door of the Cathedral for visitors during services.
