Podgorica Transport

Transport in Podgorica is straightforward by Balkans standards. The airport sits twelve kilometres south of the centre, fifteen minutes by road, with fixed taxi rates around fifteen euros to the centre and an hourly airport bus at three euros that drops at the central bus station. The bus station handles all domestic and international coach traffic, local routes to the coast at five to nine euros, the Adriatic line to Tirana at fifteen to twenty euros, Dubrovnik at twelve to eighteen and Belgrade at thirty-five to fifty depending on the operator. The railway station next to the bus station sits on the Bar to Belgrade line, with the southbound run to Bar at three euros twenty minutes off the timetable through the day and the northbound overnight to Belgrade taking ten to twelve hours.

Car hire is concentrated at the airport and along the Bulevar in the centre, with the major Balkan operators running daily rates of twenty to forty-five euros for an economy car and weekly rates dropping to fifteen to twenty-five a day. Licensed taxis run a meter starting at one euro fifty with thirty cents per kilometre after the first; an end-to-end city ride rarely exceeds five euros. Private transfers from Podgorica run sixty to one hundred and twenty euros to the coastal towns and on to Tirana, Dubrovnik or Pristina. Most operators run year-round with no significant seasonal variation.
