Podgorica Cafés
Coffee shops and cafes in Podgorica
Cafes in Podgorica run on a continental Italian rhythm. The morning espresso starts at six on weekdays; most rooms run through to ten or eleven at night, later in summer. Trg Republike and the side streets off Slobode Avenue carry the largest concentration of terrace cafes, busiest from seven to nine in the morning and again from five through eight in the evening when the after-work passeggiata fills the centre.
Stara Varos holds the older end with smaller stone-walled rooms in the Ottoman lanes around the Sahat Kula. Bakery-cafe combos are common across the residential blocks, serving burek, pita and sweet pastries alongside the coffee. Espresso runs at one euro twenty to one euro eighty, cappuccino at two to three, a sandwich or pastry at two to four. WiFi is universal and the working-from-cafe trade has thickened across the past few years. Walk-in is the rule.
