Podgorica Art and crafts
Art and craft shops in Podgorica
Art galleries and craft shops in Podgorica are concentrated around Stara Varos and the centre's museum quarter. The Stara Varos workshops along the Ottoman lanes around the Sahat Kula handle the older crafts: textile weaving, leather, silver and amber jewellery, copper, pottery and the carved wooden church icons that double as visitor souvenirs and serious decorative pieces. Most workshops run small showroom rooms attached to the working studio.
The contemporary-art end is concentrated around the museum quarter at Krusevac, with a network of dealers and small private galleries running rotating shows of Montenegrin and wider Balkans artists. Prices run from twenty to forty euros for small craft pieces, sixty to two hundred for the larger textiles and pottery, and three hundred upwards for original paintings. Most galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday with shorter Sunday hours, and most accept card payment and arrange international shipping on the larger pieces.
