Podgorica Groceries
Grocery stores and supermarkets in Podgorica
Grocery stores and supermarkets in Podgorica run from the city's full-line chain branches inside the shopping centres through to the smaller neighbourhood markets across the residential blocks and the produce stalls inside Stara Varos. The major Montenegrin chain branches inside the central shopping centres carry the fuller international range with imported European brands alongside the standard Montenegrin and Serbian stock; the smaller neighbourhood branches handle the daily-shop trade.
The weekend produce markets at Tuski Put and inside the residential blocks of Konik handle the city's fresh-produce supply, with seasonal fruit, vegetables, eggs, cheeses, cured meats, fresh fish from Skadar Lake, lamb from the Komovi mountain pastures and Njeguski prsut from the ridge above Cetinje. The markets run from six in the morning through to two in the afternoon Saturday and Sunday. The smaller corner shops across the residential blocks open by six on weekdays and close at ten or later. Card payment is standard at the chain branches and most independent shops; the markets run cash-only.
