Podgorica Bus station
Bus operators from Podgorica
Bus operators from Podgorica's central bus station handle all domestic and most international coach traffic. Local routes to the Adriatic coast, Bar, Budva, Tivat, Kotor and Herceg Novi, run at five to nine euros and an hour to two hours by road, with departures every thirty to sixty minutes through the working day and a reduced overnight programme. The international lines reach Tirana at fifteen to twenty euros and three hours, Dubrovnik at twelve to eighteen and three to four hours, Sarajevo at thirty-five to fifty and ten to twelve hours, and Belgrade at thirty-five to fifty-five and nine to twelve hours; for the mountain towns the buses reach only twice a day, renting a car in Podgorica buys back the schedule.
The station runs a manned ticket-counter system in the main hall plus self-service ticketing at the larger operators. Information is in Montenegrin and English at the schedule boards and most ticket clerks speak conversational English. Luggage storage runs at one to two euros per piece per day. The main station cafe serves coffee, snacks and basic meals from five-thirty in the morning through midnight, and the surrounding fast-food rooms cover travellers heading on departures outside those hours.
