Around the City
From the Ottoman lanes of Stara Varos and the riverside Bulevar through the residential blocks to the Gorica Hill park.
Podgorica is Montenegro's capital, set on the confluence of the Morača and Ribnica rivers in the country's central plain. Stara Varos anchors the older Ottoman-era quarter on the river's east bank, with the Sahat Kula clock tower and a tight network of lanes around Skaline. The modern centre lies west of the river around Trg Republike and King Nikola's Park, with cafes, hotels and the Cathedral of the Resurrection. Nova Varos covers the nineteenth-century grid laid out under King Nikola, between the two. Gorica Hill rises on the western edge with park trails and viewpoints back over the city. Each district below links to the restaurants, accommodation, attractions and services within it.
